This class is designed to give students a very basic introduction to the Mandarin Chinese language, including the four tones used as a part of speech. Students will get a flavor for the Chinese language, but will also learn some useful words and phrases, such as introductions and pleasantries, how to ask for help, how to get directions, how to ask for the restroom, and how to give instructions to a taxi driver. Students are encouraged to ask questions to make this a fun and productive class.

This class is taught by a native Mandarin Chinese speaker residing in the United States. Classes are held the first full week of each month at 10:30PM ET / 7:30PM PT.

This class is designed to give students an introduction to China and is useful for people who plan to visit or live in China, either as a tourist or on business. Students will learn a little about the different cultures and languages in China, tipping practices, shopping (including how to haggle), eating, transportation options, and some "do's and don'ts" while staying in China. Oh, and no class would be complete without covering some of the things that might surprise you about visiting or living in China!
